4 Main Causes of Roof Damage

Your roofing plays a big role in protecting your home, which is why it needs to be maintained properly and repaired when appropriate. There are a lot of things that can cause extensive damage to your roofing, so Quality Assurance Roofing shares the four most common ones.

1. Water Damage

Water and moisture can extensively damage the roof when left unattended – especially if the roofing itself is poorly maintained or has a poor downward pitch. If there’s standing water on your roof, have this addressed immediately since it will cause leaks eventually.

2. Improper Installation

Your roof performs only as good as how well it’s installed. A roof that’s improperly installed is more susceptible to elemental damage, maintenance issues, and even has a shorter operating lifespan. That’s why we always recommend that you have our professional roofer do the installation for you.

3. Strong Winds

Asphalt shingles are more susceptible to wind damage than tile, metal, and vinyl roofing. The shingles can easily get blown away when they’re not properly installed and even if they stick, the force of the wind may still damage them severely. We recommend that you have us do preventative repair and maintenance, especially after a storm hits, so that there’s less risk of your roof shingles getting blown away.

4. Poor Maintenance

Finally, an improperly maintained roof is bound to experience a lot of problems. It’s important that you address roofing problems, even small ones, as soon as possible to keep them from becoming more serious problems in the long run.
